Prior Pilates is an intimate home Pilates Studio that delivers personalised Pilates programs.
Shannon has over 11 years’ experience in teaching Pilates including a Diploma, two Certificate IV’s in Pilates and a Pilates Alliance member. She has worked in various Pilates and physiotherapy studios both in Canberra and Canada over many years.
Shannon will guide you through every step of the process, from identifying what you want to work on, to setting achievable goals for your rehabilitation or general well being and strength.
Prior to teaching, I worked for many years in outdoor education. After an injury to my neck and back, I discovered Pilates as a form of rehabilitation. I was hooked, not only did Pilates take away my pain, it helped me feel strong and provided a whole body work out. Seeing my own results inspired me to train as an instructor with the aim of giving other people the positive experience that I had.
I love seeing clients come from a place of pain or dysfunction and move to living pain free through utilising the Pilates method, and then working together to set new goals and working towards those.
My goal as a Pilates practitioner is to give my clients the skill sets to know how to move in their day to day life and be able to practice positive movement patterns outside of my studio, whether that be at work, with their kids, with their chosen sport or just day to day life.
I believe that movement and the understanding of how our body wants to move naturally is the basis of a healthy life.
I have so much joy in teaching others and seeing the results of our sessions. This is what inspires me to keep teaching!
